Phone connections and transactions
1) We advise our trekkers to use Mori or Purola if they need a reliable network on their phones, as the BSNL service in Sankri base camp is unreliable and may be shut down at inopportune moments. In this case, a phone call from here asking you to come would be the best option. Due to the unpredictability of connectivity along the route, we suggest that people finish their work well before the trip.
Only Wi-Fi, which costs 50 to 100 rupees per day, will be available to me in Sankri.
2) In the event of an emergency, trekkers with Himalaya Hikers will be equip with walkie-talkies to communicate with the base camp.
ATM: When in Dehradun or Purola, use the ATMs there because that’s the last place you may do so. Cash machines in other cities may be down; thus, visitors are advised to deposit money before or while in Dehradun.
